Seasonal Flu Updates
Sep 10, 2010
It's flu season and we are seeing many children with fever, headache, cough and body aches who are infected with the influenza virus. If your children have not received the 2010-11 flu vaccine, please contact our office to make an appointment. We can also now offer vaccine to parents.
We would like to share with you some information published by the Centers for Disease Control. They have published some key facts about the flu vaccine and a guide to what's new with the 2010-2011 season.
From their guide:
Who should get a flu vaccine this season?
All people 6 months and older are now recommended to receive annual influenza vaccination. This is a new and expanded recommendation for this season. In February, 2010, CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted in favor of "universal" influenza vaccination in the United States to protect as many people as possible against the flu.
We are now taking appointments for Flu Clinics. We do not have VFC in stock yet but will let you know when it arrives. FluMist and Flu shots are available for most insurance plans.
